Play with the 1,200 deer at the Nara Deer Park, said to be the celestial messengers of the gods, then follow the path through gardens to the Kasuga Grand Shrine. After a full day of sightseeing relax at your Kyoto hotel. The next morning begins at Nijo Castle, continues at stunning Kinkakuji Golden Pavilion, and even takes you to the famous Kyoto Imperial Palace.   • Any cancellations made between 2 business days (18:00 local time) to 1 business days (18:00 local time) prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 40% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made between 1 business days (18:00 local time) to 1 hours prior to the activity start time will be subject to a charge of 50% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made after 1 hours prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 100% of the total amount.

Restrictions

  • Participants under the age of 20 may travel alone with written consent from a parent or guardian. Participants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • This tour is offered for travelers from overseas only. Residents of Japan may not take part in this tour.
  • Children ages 0-5 will not have their own seat, meal or bedding at hotels. If you would like a seat, meal and bed for a child aged 0-5, please book them as a child (ages 6-11).

Additional Notes

  • The Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed on the following days: Mondays, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, May 14-17 for the Aoi Festival, New Year's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event. On these days, the tour will proceed to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead.
  • The tour does not include entrance to areas requiring admission at Kasuga Taisha Shrine.
  • Nara Nagomikan may be omitted from the itinerary if it is closed on the day of the tour or as a result of traffic congestion.
  • The tour will visit Nishi Hongan-ji Temple instead of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine on May 25th.
  • Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays in January, July, August, and December. It is closed on the following day if Tuesday is a holiday. On these days or if the tour is during the year-end/New Year's holidays, Ryoan-ji Temple will be visited instead.
  • Please note that due to repair and restoration work, part or all of the Kiyomizu-dera Temple Main Hall will not be visible.
  • Vegetarian menus are available with advance notice on the first day.
  • Pick-up and drop-off from hotels in Tokyo, meals, and other expenses not mentioned in the itinerary are not included in the tour fare.

Dressing & Items to Bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes. Participants will walk to and from Todaiji for 15 minutes one way.
